Summer Sensory Delights: A Week of Sunshine and Smiles at Happy Hands Playgroup

This week at Happy Hands Playgroup, we've been celebrating the joys of summer with a range of exciting sensory activities. Our little explorers have been diving into a world of colors, scents, and textures that capture the essence of the sunny season. Let's take a peek at the fun we've had! With one more session to go this week, I just couldn't contain the fun & wanted to share this with you!

Neapolitan Ice Cream Playdough

Who doesn't love ice cream in summer? Our kiddos got to play with Neapolitan ice cream scented and colored dough. Complete with eco-friendly plastic ice cream play tools, this activity was a treat for the senses without the sticky mess!

Refreshing Lemonade Sensory Rice

Cool off with our lemonade-scented rice play! Yellow and zesty, this sensory bin came with clear plastic lemonade jugs, cups, and straws for pouring and pretend play. Perfect for fine motor skills and imaginative play.

Sunshine Spaghetti:

Our little chefs had a ball with bright yellow cooked spaghetti! Armed with silver pots, scoops, and sieves, they practiced their fine motor skills while engaging in sensory play.

Shake It Up:  Yellow and Blue Sensory Bottles

These captivating bottles filled with yellow and blue elements were perfect for quiet observation and gentle play. Great for developing focus and calm.

Busy Bee Rice Pour and Play:

Our busy bees were buzzing with excitement over this themed sensory bin. Pouring, scooping, and exploring - this activity was all about tactile stimulation and cause-and-effect learning.

Orange and Yellow Loose Parts Play

We finished off with a vibrant loose parts adventure! With crepe paper, match sticks, buttons, paddle pop sticks, Montessori silks, cupcake molds, and other themed objects, imagination knew no bounds.

What a wonderful week of summer-themed sensory play! These activities not only provided endless fun but also supported development in areas like fine motor skills, sensory processing, creativity, and early science concepts.

We love seeing our Happy Hands community engage in these enriching experiences. Don't forget to check out our Australian Natives Sensory Box for more sensory adventures at home!
